2nd Half

(Read previous Post first for context)

I went back to tuck Gavin in and turn off the light - about 20 minutes of book time. I had heard a little noise but overall things were quiet over there. I walked into his room and he had piled all the blankets and toys and books on one half of the bed all around him - the other half was all clear - just the mattress. He looked at me and proudly said, "Look Mom, I worked too! I cleaned my bed. I no get out, I good." (This means he did not get out of bed, he was good and stayed in as I asked.)
I didn't know whether to laugh or cry at my little hard worker. He was so funny. He's growing up so fast. And he's a thinker.

Happenings...

Well, I have pictures - but they will have to wait for a different day. We had a New years Eve party - at home and were sleeping by 11... There was a birthday party - a big #3! Baseball party! And then we have had some great little moments. And then today we went to the doctor. Gavin is in 75th percentile for height and weight - the doctor is pleased with his development overall and said I'm doing a great job! What mom doesn't need to hear that every now and then?!

Funny things every now and then. My favorite part of every day lately is brushing teeth. Our night-time routine. We get to giggle and copy each other and I can't measure how much toothpaste has gone up my nose when I laugh at him. I am teaching him how to spit well. He makes funny noises. I love the little bonding moment before the power struggle to stay in bed.

Tonight I set him up with some books and said he could read for 10 minutes. Then I said I'd read for a few minutes or work and then come back and put him to bed (I have the blessing and curse of being able to work from any computer anytime!) He said, 'No, Mom, you worked already - you read book.' Such good advice from my little man.

More advice - at a stoplight this morning my little back seat driver yelled 'Green mom - Go mom, GO!' I said thank you - I will when the cars move. He said 'Come on cars - get a move on.' I don't know where he learns these things!

Anyways - he is cracking me up. Growing fast and saying more and more things. I am working hard and tired a lot - trying to be all things awesome to all people. My house is clean - laundry is done - work mostly caught up - and I'm going to read a novel now. Life is good.
