Zoo pics

Here are some of my favorite pictures from the zoo trip last weekend - the next few posts are a little out of order - he has the shaved head now so the longer hair pictures were taken a few weeks ago. We liked the gorillas (monkeys to Gavin) and the hippo was very cool - walking around and making noises that made Gavin cry and opening his mouth a lot. It was cool. And of course - Gavin likes climbing on the rocks no matter where we are!

Gavin's Game - "Sleeping"

Gavin has been doing this thing for at least a month where he pretends to sleep. I can't believe a 2 year old knows how to pretend things - but he does. Sometimes he'll lay his head to the side and close his eyes and say "Mom, Mom".... so I'll look and say quietly "oh no Gavin is sleeping, shhhhh" and he'll 'wake up' and laugh and giggle - then 'fall asleep' again. It's the funniest thing. He also has been feeding his animals and he diapered the stuffed dog and elmo. hmmmmm

Gavin's Game "Boo"

Behind a blanket, a hat, a wall, or his hands - Gavin likes to hide and say "Boo" when appearing. It's SO funny. If I don't notice he's hidden I'll hear "Mom, Mom" until I look and have to ask "Where's Gavin?" If I see his eyes are covered and ask "Are you hiding?" I'll either here "uh-huh" or see his head nod. It's hard to play while driving but we manage.

Post for Rebecca

Rebecca - my older sister by 14 months - embroidered a pillow for Gavin. I think she did it before he was born. Well I believe in using pillows not just looking at them - so Gavin has it in his crib along with his other toys and pillows and blankets. This picture is not posed. He really is sleeping on the pillow - He likes it a lot. THANKS BECCA!!!

Adventures at the Park

I'm SO glad it is getting a little bit more warm. Gavin is so much fun to take to the park. I don't have to help him do everything or worry about him falling through the cracks anymore. He is a good climber and is pretty careful. He likes to swing still and run around like a crazy boy. One park we go to has this concrete dog. We should probably name it and call it our pet - the closest Gavin will get to a pet dog for a LONG time! haha

Trip to the ZOO

I think he liked the monkeys and the cows the best.

Trip to Mt. St. Helens

Well - it was supposed to be partly cloudy - but as you can see in the pictures - it was pretty cloudy - we couldn't tell where the volcano actually was. We drove about 3.5 hours south, went to the interpretive center, saw a video and went underneath a volcano... (in pretend) it was a nice visit - then we walked around Spirit Lake on a cool trail - we saw some birds and ducks... and wore out Gavin. The 'we' here is my friend Randy, Gavin, and I.

Visit to Mount St. Helens - The VOLCANO ooooooo

Playing on the trail - walking around....

Ending the Walk

We walked around the lake waiting for the clouds to lift enough to see Mount St. Helens - Gavin got a little tired by the end - it was past naptime - but he had SO much fun running and jumping and throwing rocks and walking on the narrow beams... it was a good day to be outside. The clouds lifted enough that we could tell where the mountain was so we decided to drive up as high as we were able to and let the clouds keep clearing. Still have a better picture on the puzzle I got of the volcano before and after than we did that day. Oh well....

Sunny Sunny California

We went to California this weekend to watch Steven graduate from the Defense Language Learning Institute in Monterrey. It was SO beautiful. We had a blast... We met my friend Randy there and hung out with Jeff and Steven and my cousin Kate and her husband David and their CUTE CUTE boy Jadon for a weekend. It felt like summer. It was SO awesome.

"MuMuffs" AKA Muffins

Gavin knows what muffins are - he likes muffins... He was asking for them over and over - what's a mom to do? We looked at cookbooks and I decided we didn't have the ingredients to make good muffins (i.e. no blueberries etc.) So I said we could make cookies. He was happy - until the first batch came out off the cookie sheet. "MuMuffs," he demanded! So Mom did what Mom's do best - I improvised... and made muffins out of cookie dough. Happy Gavin - Happy Stacey.....

Edited picture from the beach

See preceding post - but I just love this picture - I see a lot of Gavin looking like this...

A Cold Day at the Beach

Gavin and I needed to get out of the house so we went to the beach! It was super cold - especially down at the water... he didn't want to walk until we got back by the cars... then he wanted to walk up and down this little trail for about half hour. We like the beach a lot! - But maybe we'll wait until it warms 20 or 30 degrees...
